What Christmas is all about

I love Christmas. It is an annual reminder of the gospel. The good news that God became a man. He took on flesh and dwelt among us. They call Him, “Immanuel, which means, God with us” (Matthew 1:23). Our Creator humbled Himself to be born as one of His creation. He went on to live a sinless life, die a sinner’s death, and rise from the dead so that sinful men could become children of God. But just like Charlie Brown, we forget what Christmas is all about. Our default setting is to drop the ball and lose our way.
We all need a good friend like Linus. A brother to come along and remind us of the facts so we don’t get caught up in our emotions. That is why we partner with gospel-centered ministries. We want to serve people like Linus, people whose mission is to remind forgetful Charlie Browns like us. Praise God for Linus!
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill toward men.” (Luke 2:8-14 KJV)
Thank you Linus… that is what Christmas is all about.
Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!
