Frontend Developer
Being a part of Church Plant Media is the fulfillment of a dream I've had for a while: to be able to use the best hours of my day doing what I love alongside a team of talented friends who share my passion for building God's Kingdom. I prayed for over a year that God would lead me to a group of believers who valued innovation, creativity and excellence, and am humbled and amazed at how He led me to CPM, my personal Dream Team.
Basic Stuff: Carri and I have enjoyed married life together since 1995, and God has blessed us with 2 wonderfully active boys. My wedding day was the biggest underdog victory in Male Relational History. After moving 8 times since our wedding, we are thankful to be settled in the Richmond, Va area and have found a great spiritual home at Stony Point Presbyterian Church.
Before becoming a web developer I worked for over 12 years in full-time campus ministry with Carri. Our time with Campus Crusade for Christ grew our desire to help reach the world with the Gospel, and the ministry's commitment to innovation and the use of technology as a tool in helping to fulfill the Great Commisson contributed to my interest in how the web technologies can aid the Church.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia.
Primary Work Responsibilities: XHTML, CSS and Javascript for all partner sites. I get to turn Andrew's killer designs into what you end up seeing in your browser through the magic of code, and then pass it on to Ben to hook it up to his killer "back end" code that powers the delivery of content to the pages.
Interests and favorites:
- Places: the beach, the Middle East and North Africa, California, and hopefully someday the American Southwest (for the view and the food).
- Music: Mars ILL, Deepspace5, Boards of Canada, Solar Fields, Pretty Lights, DJ Shadow, Blockhead, Alias, anything on Quannum, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Qwel, Explosions in the Sky, Caspian, Ulrich Schnauss, Hammock, Jon Hopkins, The Roots, Tycho, and about 285 more...
- Books: For the Love of God, The Gospel According to Job, Your Work Matters to God, anything good related to design, usability, code (too many to mention).
- Sports: I'm a tortured-but-hopeful Minnesota Vikings fan and a tortured-but-faithful UVA football/basketball fan.
- Movies: Miller's Crossing, Raising Arizona, and anything else by the Cohen brothers. The Usual Suspects, Memento, American History X, Gran Torino, Goodfellas, Hotel Rwanda, Donnie Darko, Crash, Magnolia, The Shawshank Redemption, Glory, The Green Mile, Star Wars movies made before 1984.
- Other loves/hobbies: adoption, Apple, homemade family games, pretend Ultimate Fighting Championships with my boys, Chilis chips and salsa, and watching LOST (of course).
- Bit of Randomness: got to meet the mighty Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson from the Roots in a burrito joint at LAX. He prayed before his meal, wish I'd asked him about it.
